Ok, Are You Going to Bloggers Connect or What?

We, being novices, instead of "old blogging pros" like we are now, missed Inman Connect last year. And blissfully, we didn't know what we had missed until the photos and missives about how cool it was started coming in.

Then we felt like dunces in a corner, or at least a professional bus-stop-bench-sitter, whose job it is to warm a spot, observe, and then miss, rather than catch the bus. (It's a late bird and a missed worm kind of thing.)

This year we're on it. We got a bus ticket. And we'll be at the reception the night before. And hopefully at whatever dinner that springs up for way too many thereafter.

That's where we'll get to meet Don Rich, up front and in person for the first time. And when we're talking with him we'll be scanning the crowd looking for Laurie Manny. And Bob and Johathan, we hope. And a whole lot more.

It'll be like a high school reunion... of people we never went to school with. What a hoot.

Lenn Harley Speaks

Had a great conversation with Lenn Harley. Wasn't hard core real estate talk; it was better than that.

Maxene, my better 7/8th's, son, Olivier, has been invited to attend the National Junior Leadership summit in Washington, and we're headed to DC next week.

Lenn, like many of you, we know only by pen here on AR. Yet she called to asked us over for lunch while we're there. That's where the hard core real estate talk will happen, and am most looking forward to it. Count on it.

I'll bring Maxene too, and who knows who else we might meet there. What's so cool is through AR we get to do things like this... with people we've wanted to know for a while... who we kinda know from afar already. But better than that is AR, like all of our blogs, establishes trust... before we meet someone personally.

But to be asked to meet someone at their wonderful home, how cool is that? And it speaks volumes about the benefits of our less-than-90,000-member exclusive club here.

I'll take pictures and let you know what we learned from our visit to the hard core real estate mountain. Some seas are bound  to part, and wisdom to be heard. Yea.

Not Your Basic Home Showing Injury

Cave Rock boat ramp Lake TahoeOne would think that a curb, even when in mid-speak with a client, would not post much of a challenge. But not so apparently yesterday.

We were showing the boat ramp at Cave Rock next to the lake; that's where the foul curb was.

Next to it was a bit of a hole, an indentation in the asphalt actually. One not easily seen. (That's the end of the ramp pictured, which is much more inspiring than the hole, or the parking lot.)

And when my foot hit it, the ankle rolled, and there I was spilling out into the parking lot in mid sentence, rolling over, tearing my slacks, skinning my knee and landing with a 200+lb flop. Ok, a thud.

And it really hurt. I knew immediately that I had to get my head down or it would be pass-out time. (That's what some of us do with sudden, sharp pain.) So I just laid there, stretched out, looking up at our clients... and I kept talking. Few things it seems will stop a good real estate filibuster.

About 5 minutes later we were on our way.  But buy the time I got home it looked like I had a softball in my sock. Yes my ankle still swells from a sprain like it did when I was a kid. Oh well.

This is the second time I've had a showing fall. The first one was the same ankle two years ago, where I did pass out. That stops filibuster cold. It was from snow collapsing unexpectedly out on a deck overlooking the lake.

They don't teach us acrobatics, and tumbling techniques in real estate school. But the truth is they don't teach us much more than how to pass the state tests. The rest is up to us. Even if we have to wear catcher's equipment when confronting curbs.

The first time this happened the clients eventually bought a real nice place here in paradise. I hope these people do do. They were a lot of fun to be around. And even laughed at our attendant flip-flop jokes.

We thought you mioght appreciate just another tale in the crazy thinkgs we do to make all that "easy" money we do, and perhaps you can also appreciate why I'm wondering why they don't make curbs like they used to.
